Spirit Description

Buckwheat is technically a seed, and this whiskey is 90% buckwheat and 10% malted rye. It was aged in a new charred 53-gallon oak barrel for 4 years. The aroma is grassy and earthy with tasting notes of buckwheat that are nutty and dry with hints of caramel and vanilla.

Information & History

Despite its name, buckwheat is actually a seed, rather than a grain (like wheat). Surprisingly, it's related to rhubarb, not other grasses such as wheat, grass or maize - giving it a much more Earthy flavor.
